What is ADHD?

Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) is characterized by developmentally inappropriate levels of inattention, hyperactivity, and impulsive behavior. ADHD can often cause significant impairment in daily functioning at home, at school or at work. Based on the different types and symptoms of ADHD, three kinds of ADHD can occur:

  • Combined Presentation: if enough symptoms of both criteria inattention and hyperactivity-impulsivity were present for the past 6 months
  • Predominantly Inattentive Presentation: if enough symptoms of inattention, but not hyperactivity-impulsivity, were present for the past six months
  • Predominantly Hyperactive-Impulsive Presentation: if enough symptoms of hyperactivity-impulsivity, but not inattention, were present for the past six months.

Because symptoms can change over time, the presentation may change over time as well.

How can the NeuroFiT Connections program help with ADHD?

Research has shown that the symptoms of Attention Deficit Hyper Disorder (ADHD) are directly linked to weak connections found across different sections of the brain. NeuroFiT Connections exercises and activities are independently designed to help strengthen and build new pathways and connections by using a combination of physical, sensory, and cognitive activities. The consistent completion of the program has been proven to lead to improvements in cognitive tasks (focus, memory, learning, comprehension, reasoning), executive functioning (behaviors, emotions, organization, self-motivation and problem solving) and overall quality of life.

The benefits of scheduling an assessment:

Whether you have a diagnosis or not, it doesn’t hurt to get a second opinion.  During the assessment, we will cover at least seven different categories of items that will give you a very clear picture of what’s going on.  We will provide this detail to you in a ten page report.  At the end of the day, you will not only know what’s going on, you’ll also know what you can do about it. The following 10 areas of development are tested/reviewed during an assessment. Once completed, you’ll receive a detailed Assessment Results Report covering the following items:

Program FAQs

NeuroFiT Connections is a developmental disability center. It is a place where those with social, emotional, behavioral, and academic issues caused by developmental disabilities can come to get to the root of the issue, resolve those issues, and move forward with life.

While we can and have worked with adults, our program is geared for children from 18 months to 18 years of age. That’s because most adults have developed coping mechanisms to help them get through each day, while children haven’t. By going through our program, we can change the trajectory of a child’s life.

The NeuroFiT Connections program starts with an assessment because no two people struggling with a developmental issue are the same. Whether someone has been diagnosed or not, we assess ten different categories to determine exactly what’s going on and what their customized program will look like.

The cost is based on the number of sessions the student (what we call a “patient”) requires as well as your situation in life. We do offer discounts for single parents, first responders, veterans, and the like. The average is as low as $167 to $335 a month for 72 months. While we don’t accept insurance, we do offer a variety of discounts and payment options, many interest free.

No. Since the NeuroFiT Connections program is a non-medical program and does not provide a diagnosis, it is not covered by health insurance. Nor is a diagnosis required for someone to benefit from our services. Our in-depth assessment will uncover everything required to create a customized program to get to the root cause of the developmental issue and resolve it.

Our staff are trained and are Board Certified Cognitive Coaches through outside accrediting agencies.

We are also working to allow you to bill Medicare and Medicaid for services, but are not certain what day we will be able to accept the insurance.

No. NeuroFiT Connections does not require a diagnosis to participate in the program. While a diagnosis is helpful during the assessment process, it’s just a guide and is, many times, wrong especially when it comes to ADD/ADHD.

When enrolled in The NeuroFiT Connections program, you will meet with your cognitive coach three times a week to complete a series of cognitive, sensory, and physical activities. These activities are geared towards engaging and activating many different regions of the brain. In addition, you will receive at home assignments to hone your new skills inside and outside of cognitive sessions. Families are encouraged to participate in at-home activities together.

We can’t and won’t guarantee that a student (what we call a “patient”) will become Neurotypical after completing their program. This is because the student does not think like most of their peers and will always retain most of the benefits of their particular disorder. We do know that there will be positive change as the result of their participation in the NeuroFiT Connections program.

While we don’t guarantee results, we start with a set of goals that we work to meet. These goals come from the parent, the student, and the Cognitive Coach.
Being so close to the issue, you may not notice the changes in the student. Never fear. Your Cognitive Coach will point them out as they happen.

At NeuroFiT Connections, our Adult ADHD Program is designed to improve the underlying brain functions that often contribute to ADHD symptoms rather than simply teaching coping strategies. Many adults with ADHD experience challenges with attention, executive functioning, emotional regulation, organization, memory, processing speed, and mental fatigue.

Our program begins with a comprehensive Brain & Body Assessment to identify areas of neurological inefficiency. From there, we develop a personalized training program that may include cognitive exercises, visual and auditory processing activities, balance and coordination training, rhythm and timing exercises, and other brain-based interventions.

The goal is to strengthen communication between different regions of the brain so everyday tasks become easier. As brain function becomes more efficient, many adults report improvements in focus, productivity, organization, emotional regulation, and overall quality of life.

Because every brain is different, every program is customized to the individual's specific strengths and challenges.

No. The Adult ADHD Program at NeuroFiT Connections is not medical treatment, psychotherapy, counseling, or occupational therapy.

Instead, it is a neuroscience-informed brain performance program designed to improve how efficiently the brain processes information. Our approach combines evidence-informed brain training, sensory integration activities, cognitive exercises, motor coordination, rhythm and timing training, and other non-invasive interventions that support healthier brain function.

Many adults choose our program because they are looking for an approach that goes beyond symptom management. While medications and therapy can be valuable tools for many individuals, our focus is on improving the brain's functional performance through targeted training.

Our services are educational and wellness-focused and are intended to complement—not replace—the care provided by your physician or other healthcare professionals.

No. A formal ADHD diagnosis is not required.

Many adults seek an evaluation because they struggle with symptoms such as poor focus, procrastination, forgetfulness, disorganization, mental fatigue, impulsivity, or difficulty completing tasks but have never received an official diagnosis.

Our comprehensive Brain & Body Assessment evaluates multiple aspects of brain function, including attention, processing speed, memory, executive functioning, visual and auditory processing, motor coordination, and other neurological systems that influence daily performance.

Whether you have been diagnosed with ADHD, suspect you may have ADHD, or simply want to better understand why certain tasks feel more difficult than they should, our assessment can help identify areas that may benefit from targeted brain training.

If appropriate, we may also recommend seeking a medical evaluation to complement your results.

Every individual is different, but many adults come to NeuroFiT Connections seeking help with challenges such as:

  • Difficulty maintaining attention
  • Easily becoming distracted
  • Poor organization
  • Procrastination
  • Forgetfulness
  • Difficulty completing tasks
  • Mental fatigue
  • Time management challenges
  • Emotional regulation difficulties
  • Impulsivity
  • Trouble prioritizing
  • Slow processing speed
  • Reduced working memory
  • Difficulty transitioning between tasks

Our goal is not simply to help you compensate for these challenges but to improve the brain functions that contribute to them.

Because our program is individualized, your training plan is based on the results of your assessment rather than a one-size-fits-all protocol.

Brain training works by repeatedly challenging specific brain networks involved in attention, executive functioning, processing speed, memory, coordination, and self-regulation.

Like physical exercise strengthens muscles, carefully designed cognitive and sensorimotor activities can help strengthen the efficiency of communication between different regions of the brain. This process is supported by neuroplasticity—the brain's ability to adapt and change through experience.

At NeuroFiT Connections, our program goes beyond computerized "brain games." Depending on your assessment results, your personalized plan may include cognitive exercises, visual processing activities, auditory training, rhythm and timing exercises, balance work, coordination training, and other activities designed to engage multiple brain systems simultaneously.

By targeting the underlying functional weaknesses identified during your assessment, we aim to improve how efficiently your brain processes information, helping everyday tasks feel less overwhelming.

Yes. Our Adult ADHD Program is entirely non-medication based.

Rather than relying on medication, we focus on improving brain function through personalized brain training, cognitive exercises, sensory integration activities, motor coordination, and other neuroscience-informed interventions.

Many adults choose our program because they want a non-invasive approach or wish to complement their existing treatment plan. Others are looking for alternatives because medication has not fully addressed their challenges or they prefer to avoid medication when appropriate.

Our program does not require participants to stop taking prescribed medications. If you are currently under the care of a physician, we encourage you to continue following their medical advice. Our goal is to provide an additional approach that supports healthier brain function and improved daily performance.

Every program is personalized based on your assessment results, so no two programs are exactly alike.

Depending on your individual needs, your training plan may include:

  • Computer-based cognitive training
  • Executive functioning exercises
  • Attention and working memory activities
  • Visual processing and eye movement training
  • Auditory processing exercises
  • Rhythm and timing training
  • Balance and coordination activities
  • Fine motor skill exercises
  • Cross-body movement patterns
  • Primitive reflex integration (when appropriate)
  • Processing speed activities
  • Dual-task exercises that combine physical and cognitive challenges

These activities are carefully selected to strengthen the specific brain networks identified during your assessment rather than simply providing general mental stimulation.

As your brain develops greater efficiency, the exercises are adjusted to continue challenging your progress and supporting long-term improvement.
