What is Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)?

Adults with ASD may behave, communicate, interact and learn in ways that are considered to be different from most other people. There are often no physical indicators of Autism Spectrum Disorder or differences in appearance that can suggest a person has the disorder. The intellectual and physical abilities of adults with ASD can significantly vary on a person to person basis. For example, some adults with ASD may have advanced conversation skills whereas others may be nonverbal; this all depends on where the adult lands within the spectrum.

How can the NeuroFiT Connections Program help with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)?

Research has shown that the displayed behaviors of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) are directly linked to weak connections found across different sections of the brain, which is what the NeuroFiT Connections program specializes in. NeuroFiT Connections exercises and activities are specifically designed to help strengthen and build new neuropathways and connections by using a combination of physical, sensory, and cognitive activities. The consistent completion of the program has been proven to lead to improvements in cognitive tasks (focus, memory, learning, comprehension, reasoning), executive functioning (behaviors, emotions, organization, self-motivation and problem solving) and overall quality of life.

The benefits of scheduling an assessment:

Whether you have a diagnosis or not, it doesn’t hurt to get a second opinion.  During the assessment, we will cover at least seven different categories of items that will give you a very clear picture of what’s going on.  We will provide this detail to you in a ten page report.  At the end of the day, you will not only know what’s going on, you’ll also know what you can do about it. The following 10 areas of development are tested/reviewed during an assessment. Once completed, you’ll receive a detailed Assessment Results Report covering the following items:

Program FAQs

NeuroFiT Connections is a developmental disability center. It is a place where those with social, emotional, behavioral, and academic issues caused by developmental disabilities can come to get to the root of the issue, resolve those issues, and move forward with life.

While we can and have worked with adults, our program is geared for children from 18 months to 18 years of age. That’s because most adults have developed coping mechanisms to help them get through each day, while children haven’t. By going through our program, we can change the trajectory of a child’s life.

The NeuroFiT Connections program starts with an assessment because no two people struggling with a developmental issue are the same. Whether someone has been diagnosed or not, we assess ten different categories to determine exactly what’s going on and what their customized program will look like.

The cost is based on the number of sessions the student (what we call a “patient”) requires as well as your situation in life. We do offer discounts for single parents, first responders, veterans, and the like. The average is as low as $167 to $335 a month for 72 months. While we don’t accept insurance, we do offer a variety of discounts and payment options, many interest free.

No. Since the NeuroFiT Connections program is a non-medical program and does not provide a diagnosis, it is not covered by health insurance. Nor is a diagnosis required for someone to benefit from our services. Our in-depth assessment will uncover everything required to create a customized program to get to the root cause of the developmental issue and resolve it.

Our staff are trained and are Board Certified Cognitive Coaches through outside accrediting agencies.

We are also working to allow you to bill Medicare and Medicaid for services, but are not certain what day we will be able to accept the insurance.

No. NeuroFiT Connections does not require a diagnosis to participate in the program. While a diagnosis is helpful during the assessment process, it’s just a guide and is, many times, wrong especially when it comes to ADD/ADHD.

When enrolled in The NeuroFiT Connections program, you will meet with their cognitive coach three times a week to complete a series of cognitive, sensory, and physical activities. These activities are geared towards engaging and activating many different regions of the brain. In addition, you will receive at home assignments to hone their new skills inside and outside of cognitive sessions. Families are encouraged to participate in at-home activities together.

We can’t and won’t guarantee that a student (what we call a “patient”) will become Neurotypical after completing their program. This is because the student does not think like most of their peers and will always retain most of the benefits of their particular disorder. We do know that there will be positive change as the result of their participation in the NeuroFiT Connections program.

While we don’t guarantee results, we start with a set of goals that we work to meet. These goals come from the parent, the student, and the Cognitive Coach.
Being so close to the issue, you may not notice the changes in the student. Never fear. Your Cognitive Coach will point them out as they happen.

At NeuroFiT Connections, our Adult Autism Program is designed to support the unique strengths and challenges of autistic adults by improving the efficiency of the brain systems involved in attention, processing, communication, coordination, executive functioning, and self-regulation.

The program begins with a comprehensive Brain & Body Assessment that evaluates multiple aspects of neurological function. Based on the results, we create a personalized training plan that targets the specific areas where additional support may be beneficial.

Depending on your individual needs, your program may include cognitive training, visual and auditory processing activities, rhythm and timing exercises, balance and coordination training, and other neuroscience-informed interventions.

Our goal is not to change who you are. Instead, we aim to help you build on your strengths while improving the brain functions that can make everyday life, work, relationships, and independent living more manageable.

Every autistic adult has a unique combination of strengths and challenges, which is why every program at NeuroFiT Connections is individualized.

Depending on your assessment results, your personalized program may be designed to support areas such as:

  • Executive functioning
  • Attention and concentration
  • Emotional regulation
  • Processing speed
  • Working memory
  • Cognitive flexibility
  • Motor coordination
  • Balance and body awareness
  • Sensory processing
  • Visual and auditory processing
  • Planning and organization
  • Daily routines and task completion

Rather than following a standardized protocol based solely on a diagnosis, we use the findings from your Brain & Body Assessment to identify the specific neurological systems that may benefit from targeted brain training.

No. The Adult Autism Program at NeuroFiT Connections is not medical treatment, psychotherapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, or applied behavior analysis (ABA).

Instead, it is a personalized, neuroscience-informed brain training program that focuses on improving how efficiently the brain processes information and coordinates multiple neurological systems.

Depending on your assessment results, your program may include cognitive exercises, visual and auditory processing activities, rhythm and timing training, coordination exercises, and other non-invasive interventions designed to strengthen brain function.

Many participants choose our program as a complement to other services they may already be receiving. Our goal is to provide an individualized approach that supports improved brain function while respecting each person's unique abilities, preferences, and goals.

Many autistic adults are interested in improving specific skills such as attention, organization, processing speed, emotional regulation, or executive functioning. Brain training is designed to strengthen the underlying brain systems involved in these abilities through targeted, repeated practice.

At NeuroFiT Connections, every program begins with a comprehensive assessment to identify the individual's unique pattern of strengths and areas for improvement. From there, we develop a personalized training plan that engages multiple brain systems through cognitive, sensory, motor, and timing-based activities.

Because every person is different, outcomes vary from one individual to another. Our goal is to help each participant improve the efficiency of the brain functions that support success at home, at work, and in everyday life while building on the strengths they already possess.

Executive functions are the brain's management skills. They help us plan, organize, prioritize, start tasks, manage time, regulate emotions, shift attention, and complete everyday activities.

Many autistic adults experience challenges in one or more of these areas, even when they have strong intelligence, creativity, or technical abilities.

At NeuroFiT Connections, executive functioning is evaluated as part of the Brain & Body Assessment. If weaknesses are identified, your personalized program may include cognitive exercises, attention training, working memory activities, dual-task exercises, rhythm and timing training, and other interventions designed to strengthen the brain networks involved in executive control.

By improving these foundational skills, many adults find it easier to stay organized, complete tasks, manage responsibilities, and navigate daily routines with greater confidence.

Many of the skills needed for independent living depend on efficient brain function. Planning a schedule, managing time, staying organized, completing household tasks, regulating emotions, adapting to change, and maintaining focus all rely on multiple brain systems working together.

At NeuroFiT Connections, we focus on strengthening these underlying brain functions through a personalized brain training program based on your assessment results. As attention, executive functioning, processing, and self-regulation improve, many participants report greater confidence in managing everyday responsibilities and achieving personal goals.

While every individual's experience is different, our objective is to help make daily activities feel more manageable by improving the efficiency of the brain systems that support independence, productivity, and overall quality of life.
